RESEARCH ASSISTANT CONSULTANCY

LGBT Ireland is a national charitable organisation which provides
support services to Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex (LGBTI+)
people and their families.? Informed by the issues and experiences
raised through our frontline services we also provide training and
advocacy to enhance the visibility, inclusion and rights of LGBT+
people living in Ireland. One of the priority groups LGBT Ireland
supports are LGBTI+ people seeking international protection in
Ireland, the vast majority of whom live in Direct Provision. As well
as providing frontline support services (peer support, other wrap
around supports), LGBT Ireland is also very active in the research,
policy and advocacy fields on these issues. ?

RESEARCH BACKGROUND

LGBT Ireland, together with a team of academic researchers from NUI
Galway (Dr Noemi Magugliani & Dr Chris Noone), successfully tendered
for a study of LGBTI+ International Protection Applicants Living in
IPAS Accommodation Centres, requested by the government department
responsible namely The Department of Children, Equality, Disability,
Integration and Youth Affairs (DCEDIY). The study timeframe is

RESEARCH ASSISTANT CONSULTANT

To assist the research team, LGBT Ireland seeks a suitable qualified
consultant for a period of **Apply on the website** days beginning as
early as possible in August. ?The suitable consultant will meet the
following criteria:

NECESSARY QUALIFICATION

* Postgraduate degree (or close to completion) in Law, Social
Sciences, Social Policy, or related areas

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* A minimum of one year?s research experience
* Solid knowledge of the international protection system in Ireland
* Past experience in conducting focus groups and/or interviews
* Ability to work independently as well as within a team
* Ability to work to deadlines and under a degree of pressure

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* Completion of training on trauma-informed approaches to research
* Experience with coding qualitative data and/or familiarity with
Nvivo (or with similar software for qualitative analysis)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work meticulously and keep precise records

REMUNERATION FOR THIS CONSULTANCY IS AT A DAILY RATE OF ?**APPLY ON
