For?ige is the National Youth Development Organisation, which
promotes and fosters youth development through the operation of
various youth services in urban and rural areas throughout the
country. For?ige is currently recruiting for the following position:
SENIOR YOUTH OFFICER
PROJECT SUMMARY
The Youth Diversion Project, is a community based, multi-agency youth
crime prevention initiative which primarily seeks to divert young
people who have been involved in anti-social and/or criminal behaviour
by providing suitable activities to facilitate personal development,
promote civic responsibility and improve long term employability
prospects. The project also works with young people who are
significantly at risk of becoming involved in anti-social and/or
criminal behaviour. These projects are part of a network of Youth
Diversion Projects; funded by the Department of Justice and by the
European Social Fund and Dormant Accounts, in conjunction with An
Garda S?och?na and is managed by For?ige. Under the new Youth

website**, For?ige has been funded to employ Senior Youth Officers in
specific areas to build the capacity of the For?ige YDP Network in
these areas to achieve better outcomes for young people in the
projects.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL
REQUIREMENTS;
* Education to minimum Degree level (Level 7 NFQ) in a relevant
discipline
* A minimum of 3 years? experience of working with young people
and families experiencing adversity in their lives and in planning
interventions in order to achieve the best possible outcomes
* Experience working with families and parents, particularly in
delivering parenting and whole family programmes
* Experience in establishing, leading and coordinating new and
innovative responses to youth needs
* Ability to work in an efficient manner and to lead and motivate
others.
* Car owner with full driving licence.
