Galway Rural Development: SICAP Ukrainian Support Officer
SICAP UKRAINIAN SUPPORT OFFICER

DUTIES:

* To provide one-to-one support in a variety of areas affecting newly
arrived Ukrainian migrants in County Galway.
* To work closely with the SICAP team and other programmes in Galway
Rural Development to support access among Ukrainian refugees to SICAP
services including in areas such as education, enterprise and
employment, health and wellbeing, children and families supports.
* To provide culturally appropriate referral and introduction
service to specialist services as required.
* To support the coordination of services to Ukrainian refugees at a
local and county level including those offered by Local Community
Groups and accommodation providers.
* To coordinate and deliver programmes to Ukrainian refugees where
applicable to the role.
* To support the development of Ukrainian Local Community Groups
across County Galway to ensure their voices are adequately represented
at various levels.
* To complete all relevant paperwork and ensure detailed records are
kept as required. To maintain strict confidentiality of personal
information about service users and adhere to SDCP policy and
procedure in this regard.
* To carry out other related duties as required by the needs of the
project, clients and the SICAP Team Leader.

REQUIREMENTS:

* A relevant third-level qualification such as social sciences/social
care, psychology, community development or equivalent combination of
relevant education and experience.
* Have verbal and written fluency in English and Ukrainian.
* Successful candidates must continue to satisfy Citizenship
Eligibility requirements (including any person holding an official
letter confirming that they have been granted Temporary Protection in
Ireland under the EU Temporary Protection Directive **Apply on the

* Have a full clean driving licence and access to a car.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

* A minimum of one years? experience in a similar position or in
community services/education/social care setting in Ireland or
elsewhere.
* Experience of providing individual support and working with
community based organisations in areas such as information sharing,
needs identification and capacity building.
* Experience of report writing and presenting.
* An understanding and ability to relate to and work with people
across cultures and backgrounds.
* Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of other
organisations.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

* Highly organised, with the ability to work well under pressure.
* Have a flexible and adaptable work approach.
* Good listening and communication skills.
* Excellent IT skills and record keeping skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently with an
ability to set and meet goals.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

depending on availability of funding.

LOCATION:

This position will be based on a combination of office, remote and
outreach work across County Galway.

SALARY:

Salary will be based on the SICAP officer pay scale depending on
experience.
