We seek enthusiastic and suitably qualified individuals to work with
us on health related needs of Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary
Protection in Dublin. The role involves outreach and networking,
creation of the space to collectively identify these issues, address
them, as well as provision of support, signposting and advocacy.

ABOUT US

Cairde is a health advocacy organisation working to tackle health
inequality among ethnic minority communities by improving ethnic
minority access to health services, and participation in health
planning and delivery.

ACET (AIDS Care Education and Training) Ireland is a Faith-Based
Christian response to HIV in Ireland, operating a range of projects in
the area of HIV and related issues.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER (2 POSITIONS)

The overarching goal of the Community Development Worker position is
to build the capacity of the Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary
Protection (BOTPs) to address the issues they are experiencing in
accessing health and other social services through the community
development approach and creation of the space to collectively
identify these issues. The Community Development Worker will be also
involved in supporting newly arrived Ukrainian Beneficiaries of
Temporary Protection (BOTPs) to link with the established Ukrainian
community groups in Dublin City North area; advocate on their behalf
in the range of negotiations with the service providers and to refer
them to appropriate services or agencies. The Community Development
Officer will also be expected to advocate on behalf of other ACET?s
or Cairde?s Ukrainian clients when required.

It is expected that these 2 Community Development Workers will work
alongside each other with the shared work plan but report separately
to ACET Ireland and Cairde.

TASKS

The Community Development Worker tasks are broadly outlined below.
However, some of these tasks might be divided between 2 post-holders
as both organisations see fit.

* Undertake the mapping of the Ukrainian community, including
Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) living in
private housing and those in hotels/hostels in Dublin City North.
* Establish a network of contacts with the other groups and
organisations providing support to Ukrainian Beneficiaries of
Temporary Protection (BOTPs) in Dublin City North.
* Work with the Ukrainian community, including Ukrainian
Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) to bring them together
to form a network of support on various issues.
* Identify training and supports that the Ukrainian community needs
to be able to collectively identify and address their issues.
* Work on individual and group basis with the Ukrainian community
members, including advocating on their behalf.
* Identify and engage with potential partner organisations to
deliver the supports the Ukrainian community needs.
* Develop links between the Ukrainians and relevant services and
supports.
* Identify Ukrainian leaders or activists to empower them to become
peer advocates in order to improve access to, experience of, and
outcomes from, health and related services.
* Gather data and record case work in ACET?s and Cairde?s
databases.
* Write the most significant case studies on monthly basis.
* Gather and record issues relating to accessing health and related
services, and identify trends for policy development.
* Keep a detailed record of all work and all contacts including
specific actions taken and outcomes.
