ABOUT THIS ROLE

Key to the delivery of our services is our active presence in the
community and with this, coordinating and promoting?courses for
people living with arthritis.

As Community Support Officer you will be the frontline link for our
suite of courses, including;

?Be Active with Arthritis? ? 6-week exercise class delivered by
a chartered physiotherapist and ?Behind the Pain? ? 6-week
mental health programme.

The ability to communicate and integrate with other
organisations/individuals for the development of these courses is
paramount. ?

In addition, you will be responsible for the roll out and coordination
of new Arthritis Ireland information stands in Rheumatology clinics
around Ireland. ?

Outreach support for our branch volunteer network including; grant
applications, event promotions and other tasks as required.

The role is ideal for a solid all-rounder who has excellent
communication and organisational skills and experience in dealing with
multi-tasking and volunteers, organising events and training courses,
and marketing. The successful candidate must be able to hit the ground
running and be capable of managing projects without supervision. We
value flexibility, attention to detail, bright ideas and willingness
to go the extra mile. The ability to communicate and integrate with
other members of the team and a wide variety of external supporters
and volunteers is also an integral part to this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* COURSE ORGANISATION:

* Planning, organising and promoting physiotherapy led 6-week
exercise courses, Be Active with Arthritis, online and in person
* Planning, organising and promoting psychotherapist-facilitated
6-week mental health programme ?Behind the Pain?, online and in
person

* BRANCH SUPPORT:

* Providing branch support to our network of branches
* Planning, promoting and delivering training courses to branch
members
* Organising arthritis information events
* Developing promotional materials and marketing branch and walking
group events and activities
* Providing assistance to branches in developing grant applications
and reports
* Supporting the organisation of community fundraising events and
activities
* Organising national and regional meetings (4 per year)
* Ensuring excellent stewardship and support to all volunteers
* Compiling plans, surveys and reports on branch and walking group
activities
* Attending branch meetings and volunteer events as required
* Ordering and dispatching materials and merchandise
* Budget and invoice tracking
* Keeping volunteer database up to date
* Dealing with phone and email enquiries relating to volunteer
activities
* Writing and updating website, magazine and e-zine content relating
to volunteers

* PATIENT INFORMATION;

* Auditing Arthritis Ireland information stands in Rheumatology
clinics and coordinating project for new stands, including purchasing
and organising delivery of same
* Reviewing stock and introducing updated systems to ensure these
stands are?kept fully stocked?
* Coordinating and reviewing key contacts in all rheumatology
clinics?

* GENERAL;

* Organising arthritis information events In person and online
* Completing grant applications and reports

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

* A minimum of 2 years professional experience with excellent
administration and IT skills
* A minimum of 2 years professional experience of organising events
and training online??
* Some experience and/or interest in supporting and stewarding
volunteers

SKILLS REQUIRED

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience of developing, coordinating, training events and
seminars online and in the community
* Excellent computer skills, with good understanding of presentation
development
* Demonstrated experience of organising and coordinating events
* Budget tracking and updating
* Excellent written skills- including report writing (grant
application writing a bonus)
* Experience of working with databases and online CRM packages

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

* Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and deliver
fully completed projects
* Excellent attention to detail
* Creativity
* Ability and willingness to attend meetings, event and networking
opportunities outside of normal business hours

GENERAL DETAILS

REPORT TO: Services Manager
