KNOCKMITTEN YOUTH & COMMUNITY CENTRE?MISSION

Our mission is to be a positive and inclusive focal point for the
community by providing a space that promotes educational, recreational
and community activities. The facility comprises of community rooms, a
hall, and playing pitches.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Community Centre Manager will be responsible for the overall
management of all daily operations of the Community centre. The centre
Manager will oversee the management and engagement of clients and
activities as well as managing a team of staff. The centre Manager
will report directly to the Knockmitten Youth and Community Centre
Board of Directors. He/ She will be the main point of contact for the
centre and, in line with the Community Centre?s mission will
endeavour to provide a positive focal point for the local community in
an inclusive way through the provision of a space which supports the
promotion of participation in educational, recreational and community
activities, whilst maximising the use of the facility.

As Manager, you will have responsibility of ensuring effective
maintenance of building and its facilities, including the supervision
of contractors and others regarding work carried out in the facility.

PRIMARY DUTIES - TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

* To act as the main point of contact for the Youth & Community
Centre.
* Develop close working relationships with key stakeholders, and
local community groups to ensure that there is a suitable healthy
environment for everyone using the facility.
* To promote local community involvement, help local people identify
their needs and to assist in developing programmes to meet those needs
on an on ? going basis.
* To ensure a good professional work environment is maintained and
promoted and a high standard of staff satisfaction is achieved. To
lead the team by example and resolve issues in a fair and transparent
manner in line with community centre policies.
* Design, develop and recommend new programs, projects, and
activities in consultation with the Board of Directors towards the
full implementation of objectives, policies, and decisions of the
Board.
* Market and actively promote the Centre to obtain new clients and
engage with the community and increase awareness and footfall into the
Centre. To market and promote the Centre and all the projects and
services offered within the Centre at every appropriate opportunity,
to advance the interests of the centre and ensure maximum uptake and
positive impact for the local community.
* To ensure Health and Safety legislation and guidelines are
complied with and ensure staff and centre users? health and safety
is always prioritised.
* To co-ordinate, supervise, support, direct and motivate staff and
volunteers of Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre and support Tus and
CE Participants who are based at the centre while liaising with their
Tus Supervisors and CE Supervisors. To ensure all staff, volunteers
and programme participants have been Garda Vetted.
* To be responsible for the day to day running of the Centre
including handling cash, accounts packages, bookkeeping, invoicing,
bank reconciliation etc.
* Deliver a monthly Manager?s Report.
* To write reports, financial returns, funding applications etc. as
required by the Centre and funding agencies
* To liaise and develop relationships with relevant statutory and
voluntary agencies and local community networks.
* To develop Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre in conjunction
with the Board of Directors, in relation to such things as a Staff
Handbook, Health and Safety policy, etc.
* To keep an overview of the Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre
finances in consultation with the company treasurer and the appointed
company accountant.
* To monitor and evaluate all projects within the facility as
requested by the Board of Directors and/or the Centre funding
agencies.
* To participate in all relevant training programmes and to identify
and assist in the training needs of staff.
* To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to centres?
users and general centres? business.
* To attend and participate in relevant meetings as deemed
appropriate by the Board of Directors and/or the Centre funding
agencies.
* To be accountable to the Board of Directors.
* To source and gain information on any additional funding
opportunities for the Centre and complete all relevant grant
applications.
* To have excellent problem-solving abilities and could resolve
challenging situations in a calm, effective and timely manner.
* Respond to initial enquires including showing potential hires for
the Centre around, answer the telephone, reply to emails, using online
tools etc.
* Produce letters, reports and other documentation as directed.
* To recruit centre community participants and members utilising
most appropriate promotional methods, such as individual letters,
leaflets, brochures, or presentations at meetings.
* To recruit centre staff utilising most appropriate recruitment
procedures in line with CE, Tus, and other programmes.
* Ensure effective maintenance of building ? including the
supervision of contractors and others regarding work in the facility.
* To complete any other tasks to further develop the aims of the
Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre as requested by the Board of
Directors.
* Other duties as required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Excellent staff management experience
* Experience in Financial and administrative duties
* Experience in coordinating meetings and events
* IT literate with experience of accounts packages and Excellent IT
Skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including a friendly
and welcoming manner
* Marketing experience
* Good problem-solving skills
* Capable of working on own initiative
* Must have a proven good attendance record
* A highly motivated team player.
* Must be eligible to work in Ireland

_POST SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS_

* A minimum of three years? experience in the management of a
similar facility is essential.
* Previous experience of working with voluntary or community groups.
* A third level qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
* It is also desirable that the candidate has experience in Conflict
Management and Mediation Skills
