Applications are invited for the position of CHILD AND YOUTH PROJECT
WORKER. The role of the Child and Youth Project Worker will be to work
as part of the B&B Outreach Service Team, to provide support and
implement interventions with the children, and young people who are
currently living in emergency accommodation.

This is a full-time permanent position and will involve working

work. Flexibility will be required about working hours.

This position will be based out of the B&B Outreach Service, Edel
House, Grattan Street, Cork, and will include working in other
settings such as B&B?s, emergency accommodation and other community
venues.

REPORTING TO THE ACTING MANAGER OF B&B OUTREACH TEAM, THE CANDIDATE
WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

* A minimum Fetac Level 8 Childcare Qualification, BA in Early Years
& Childhood Studies, Youth Work, Social Care, Social Work or relevant
qualification.
* Minimum 1 years? experience working with vulnerable children,
young people and their parents.
* Have an understanding of the effects of homelessness on the child,
young person and family.
* An excellent knowledge and understanding of the Children?s First
Guidelines for Child Protection and Safeguarding.
* Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
* Full Driving licence and access to own car.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work in collaboration with the B&B case worker who supports
families who are living in emergency accommodation.
* Manage and prioritise own caseload and work with flexibility and
initiative.
* Provide one to one support to children and young people who are
living in emergency accommodation.
* Establish a caring and supportive relationship with children and
their parents.
* Support children, with the engagement of their parents, in terms
of their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
* Facilitate children to engage in Youth Club and other
child-focused supports provided by Good Shepherd Cork, Cork ETB and
Springboard (Tusla).
* Identify, monitor and report concerns in relation to a child or
young person?s development or well-being.
* Liaise with other agencies involved in the well- being of the
child or young person.
* Adhere to Policies and Procedures as outlined by Good Shepherd
Cork.
