GENERAL MANAGER (GM)

Carlow Youth Training is a Community Training Centre (CTC) which
provides training, support and work experience to young people aged

left school early or are unemployed. The Centre is run by a manager
and fully qualified staff, and is responsible to a voluntary Board of
Directors drawn from the business, social and commercial community in
Carlow. Our Skills Development Programme gives learners the
opportunity to acquire new skills and achieve certification for
progression into employment, further training or education.

Carlow Youth Training is one of **Apply on the website** Community
Training Centres across Ireland which deliver the Foundation phase of
the National Youthreach programme. We are funded by Kilkenny Carlow
Education and Training Board and governed by a voluntary Board of
Directors.

Carlow Youth Training now invites applications from suitably
qualified, enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals for the
position of General Manager. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the
GM will be responsible for the effective running of the centre and
implementing strategic objectives for the development and delivery of
services, planning and budgeting, managing staff and fostering strong
working relationships with key stakeholders. A more detailed
description of the role is attached. This is a position that requires
being on site.

Leading the Carlow Youth Training team, the person appointed will play
a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of our services to meet the
needs of our young learners and building the recognition of Carlow
Youth Training as a key resource for the community we serve. This is

working to support young people reach their full potential.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL
DEMONSTRATE EVIDENCE OF:

* A recognised degree level or equivalent and significant management
experience,
* A demonstrated capacity to build positive working relationships,
motivate and inspire others to deliver high quality services,
* Experience of working proactively with a diverse range of
stakeholders (e.g. employers, schools/colleges, funders, staff,
Boards, parents, learners, community groups) to ensure services meet
targeted needs,
* Excellent communication skills, including IT skills, presentation
and report writing abilities and social media skills,
* An ability to manage competing deadlines,
* Strategic, business and financial planning experience,
* Experience of leading change management,
* A very good understanding of the challenges faced by early school
leavers, the teaching and learning methods relevant to this cohort of
learners and national policies to address educational and social
disadvantage,
* An understanding of QQI and Quality Assurance accreditation
requirements,
* Experience of reporting to a voluntary Board of Directors,
