To do this, the Irish Cancer Society provides a Volunteer Driver
Service to referred patients, identified as being in need by hospital
healthcare professionals. This is a free, volunteer delivered,
door-to-door service that brings patients from their home to the
hospital and then back again. The service is delivered by a trained
and dedicated team of volunteers who gift their time generously to aid
patients in need.

We are looking for a Volunteer Driver Coordinator to join our
expanding team. If you are passionate about supporting volunteers to
deliver a practical service for patients going through a cancer
journey; skilled at active listening, building relationships and
engaging with volunteers from diverse backgrounds and you have
experience providing coordinating an active team, this role is for
you.

WHAT YOU?LL DO

Volunteer Drivers represent the Society in their communities and are
at the very heart of the success of the Volunteer Driver Service. As a
result, volunteer communication and engagement are integral aspects to
the support and retention of our drivers.

As the Volunteer Driver Coordinator you will be responsible for
coordinating and leading a large team of volunteer drivers, regularly
engaging with them, providing support and delivering training and
orientation sessions. You will also supervise and support a team of
administrators, who administer the day to day driver related
operations of the service, including managing the daily drives,
processing driver expenses, and allocating drivers to specific drives.
You will also lead out on the ambitious plan of creating volunteer
leads in communities, for volunteer to have access to a local point of
contact. These leads will be integral to the training and retention of
our volunteer base.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DRIVER SUPPORT

* Ensure a person centred approach is applied across all interactions
with volunteer drivers and maintain a top class volunteer experience
for every volunteer driver.
* Deliver driver support sessions over zoom and face-to-face,
nationally.
* Create and develop a Volunteer Team Lead programme, with local
points of contact for volunteers and provide subsequent supervision
and guidance.
* Create and develop a driver support network in which drivers
liaise with other drivers in their local areas for peer support
* Liaise with other teams within the Society to support volunteers
cross-departmentally

PROGRAMME COORDINATION

* Supervise and support the office team (including office volunteers)
who process incoming and outgoing driver queries by phone and email,
including booking allocations, expenses queries, support queries and
Driver Portal queries.
* Provide training and ongoing team support on Dynamics
* Complete team 1:1?s and identify training gaps within the team
* Manage the team rota
* Maintain policies and processes on service administration,
ensuring the team are up to date on these, including reporting
procedures
* Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures, and
undertake appropriate training as required
* Ensure adherence to the Society?s GDPR policies and procedures

REPORTING, EVALUATION AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

* Create an annual volunteer feedback survey and collate findings
* Monitor the Volunteer Team Lead programme, ensuring driver check
in calls are completed in a timely manner, ensuring continuous service
improvement and delivering extra supports where needed
* Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in our service
delivery or operations.
* Collate statistics on driver participation and develop reports as
required

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

* Build and maintain relationships with existing internal and
external stakeholders, and develop new relationships as required
* Build effective relationships across the Society and work in
collaboration with Services Team and wider Irish Cancer Society
colleagues to contribute to the successful delivery of the
organisational strategy

have a high level of proficiency in MS Office suite, and experience of

_FLEXIBLE AND OPEN TO TRAVEL: _engaging with our extensive volunteer
driver base will mean you will travel to various locations throughout
the country, to meet drivers at network and support meetings,
including occasional overnight stays, and weekend/ evening work may be
required. You will have a full clean driving licence and access to
your own transport to facilitate this

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* A degree or professional qualification in social work, community
development, or related field. Additional relevant work experience
will be considered in lieu of a formal education qualification
* You will typically have a minimum of 3 years relevant work
experience in a service delivery role. The Society measures experience
based on the quality of the experience obtained, rather than in time
passed and welcomes applicants at all stages of their career.
* Experience in supervising or leading a team.
* Experience working with volunteers or ability to demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of volunteering, why people volunteer and
how we can retain them and provide the best possible volunteering
experience.
