The School Completion Programme is a targeted initiative under Tess
(Tusla Education Support Service) which aims to increase the number of
children and young people who stay in primary and post primary
education and improve the number of young people who successfully
complete their education at Senior Cycle or equivalent. The main focus
of the Programme is to work with those who may be at risk of
educational disadvantage through early school leaving. The SCP aims to
impact positively on Attendance, Participation and Retention of
students.

The SCP is a national Programme which is an action under the
Department of Education DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in
School) Plan.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
INCLUDE;

* Relevant third level qualification in education/teaching, social
science/social care, counselling/psychology, youth/community work or
related discipline.
* Experience of working with children and young people in a one to
one or group setting is essential
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
* A thorough knowledge of the education system and the factors
associated with early school leaving
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Excellent IT and report writing skills required
* Provision of direct support to targeted students in and out of
school and including during holiday periods
* Ability to liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders
(Schools, HSCL, EWO, Youth Work Ireland, Community family resource
centres, Education Welfare, Tusla, Social Work etc.)
* Be a strong leader and self-motivated person with strong
communication and decision making skills
* Ability to identify needs, plan and deliver evidence-based
programmes effectively
* Working as part of, and actively contributing to the SCP team
* Adhering to the policies and procedures of the School Completion
Programme and schools
* Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
* A full clean driving licence and own transport

Suitable candidates will be positive, creative, empathetic, reflective
and flexible and work well as part of a team.

The post will be fixed term/specific purpose contracts which are
subject to funding and probationary period.

GARDA VETTING:?As the work involves contact with children and young
people, candidates considered for employment will be required to
undergo the Garda Vetting process before employment can be confirmed
REFERENCES:?The successful candidate will also undergo 2 reference
checks before employment can be confirmed
SALARY:?The salary scale is based on the City of Dublin V.E.C Youth
Worker Salary Scale.
