PART TIME COUNSELLOR

THE ORGANISATION

The Traveller Counselling Service was set up in **Apply on the
website** to provide one-to-one counselling and therapeutic support to
members of the Traveller community. Overseen by a Board of Management,
the service is run by Travellers for Travellers and works from a
culturally inclusive framework which respects Traveller culture,
identity, values, and norms.

The service has now expanded to include Community Development Work and
Advocacy Work, and offers counselling in person, by phone and online,
nationwide.

We are currently recruiting for a PART TIME COUNSELLOR to join our
team. The successful candidate will be self-employed, and available to
receive client referrals. Please note: the number of client hours
cannot be guaranteed, as it will be dependent on demand.

* An understanding of the implications of social exclusion, racism,
poverty, etc. on mental health;
* The ability to work from a culturally inclusive framework;
* Respect and empathy for clients;
* Ability to maintain confidentiality;
* Good judgement and boundaries;
* High degree of personal integrity;
* Ability to work on one?s own initiative, and to plan and set
goals;
* Commitment to capacity-building and empowering Travellers;
* Understanding of and a commitment to the promotion of equal
opportunities and cultural diversity (anti-racism stance).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide quality counselling services to members of the Traveller
community;
* Regular attendance at peer supervision meetings;
* Regular engagement with the TCS Clinical Director;
* Keep prompt and accurate records and observe data protection and
confidentiality protocols;
* Timely submission of notes and invoices;
* Undertake the training and CPD offered by the Traveller
Counselling Service;
* Assist research and/or social policy initiatives as required;
* To maintain regular personal supervision and insurance.

EXPERIENCE

* Recognised third level qualification in a counselling discipline,
with full accreditation from a national counselling body;
* Previous counselling experience with marginalised groups an
advantage;
* Previous work with Travellers desirable, but not essential.

SKILLS

* Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to
develop good working relationships;
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills;
* Proficient IT skills (Zoom, Microsoft Outlook, Word);
* Case management skills;
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written;
* Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a small dynamic
team;
* Flexibility in adapting to changing and developing roles;
* Problem-solving skills;
* Ability to plan and prioritise own work;
* Full clean driving licence and access to own transport.

This is a 1-year fixed term contract with continuation dependent on
funding, with a six month probationary period. The role is based in
the Dublin area with several options for flexible/hybrid working. The
position is part-time, dependent on client referrals, and paid at a
