TVG EDUCATION STRATEGY COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTAINMENTS

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* A third level qualification in relevant areas (e.g. youth work,
education, community work and social work.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* Masters degree or other third level qualifications in a relevant
area.
* Training in anti-racism (including anti-Traveller racism) and
promoting equality.
* Traveller Cultural Awareness Training (TCAT) or Roma Cultural
Awareness Training.

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL:

* Proven ability in the implementation of education and training
initiatives and/or the development and implementation of community
development strategies.
* Minimum of 2 years in a project management or strategic planning
role.
* Minimum of three years post qualification working in an education
and social inclusion policy role or other relevant area.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and collaborate with
key stakeholders including service users.
* Experience working directly with education centres/ institutions
and training centres.
* Experience of developing policy positions and effective messaging,
including consultation and liaison with members and/or stakeholders.
* Experience of designing or contributing to the development of
educational resources on human rights issues and/or equality matters.
* Experience in the use of monitoring and evaluation tools.
* Demonstrated capacity of building and maintaining relationships at
all levels including team building, and building partnerships
* Strong negotiation and/or influencing skills.

DESIRABLE:

* Experience working with Traveller and/or Roma communities.
* Experience of working with young people and their parents/carers.
* Experience of work with/in the Irish educational system.
* Experience in working in partnership, collaboration and advocacy
using a community development approach.
* Experience in planning and providing events such as conferences,
training seminars andworkshops.
* Experience establishing and/or supporting committees and steering
groups/working groups.
* Knowledge of youth and education policy at both Irish and EU
levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND APTITUDE

ESSENTIAL:

* Knowledge and understanding of issues and challenges affecting
Traveller and Roma communities.
* Excellent and proven organisational skills and high attention to
detail in managing a diverse and demanding workload
* Have an excellent working knowledge of the Education and Training
Sector.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Have an excellent understanding of policy development and
monitoring and evaluationprocesses
* Proven ability to manage a complex workload working effectively as
a team member and on own initiative
* Excellent IT skills
* Commitment to community development and anti-racist principles.
* Flexibility to work at weekends and during evenings.
