DUBLIN CITY COMMUNITY COOPERATIVE (?THE CO-OP?): REFUGEE SUPPORT
WORKER

ROLE PURPOSE/ DESCRIPTION: The Refugee Support Worker will work with
the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) team in
supporting their response to the needs of Ukrainian Refugees and
refugees of other nationalities located in the inner city area of
Dublin.

REPORTING TO: SICAP Coordinator

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

The Refugee Support Worker (RSW) will act as a support person for
Ukrainian refugees and refugees of other nationalities residing in the
Co-op?s operational area of Dublin?s inner city.

* The RSW will co-ordinate day to day activities and organise
support, to include providing advice, guidance, running drop-in
clinics and translation supports where necessary.
* The RSW will work as part of the Co-op team to support clients
into our complimentary services, training and capacity building and
refer clients to other relevant agencies as necessary.
* The RSW will engage with and attend local fora in relation to the
Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian refugee situation in Dublin?s inner
city.
* The RSW will represent the Co-op on various interagency fora as
required.
* The RSW will work in close collaboration with the Co-op?s

projects such as the Strength-in-Diversity and Healthy Communities
Projects.
* The RSW will assist in the overall delivery of SICAP services and
supports to refugees by providing/sourcing interpretation/translation
support.
* The RSW will maintain up-to-date files and records, preparing
periodic reports as required.
* The RSW will adhere to SICAP guidelines and operational procedures
at all times.
* Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

* Fluent in English (written and oral).
* Knowledge and experience of individual case management
* Advocacy and networking skills.
* Excellent time management and workload planning skills.
* Understanding of and a commitment to the promotion of equal
opportunities and cultural diversity.
* Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of the barriers and issues facing immigrants (in
particular refugees) and obstacles in accessing social and other
services in Ireland.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

* One year experience of working in a similar role is desirable.
* Language fluency in one or several of the languages of refugees
residing in the inner city (Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, French amongst
others)
* Working with socially excluded and/or minority groups.
* Experience of working in a busy environment with the ability to
prioritise and manage your own calendar.
* Excellent ICT, communication and report writing skills.
* Ability to working both on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Familiarity with Ireland?s social welfare and protection system

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

* Third-level degree in relevant areas or post-graduate
qualification.

* The candidate must be able to demonstrate a compassion for refugees
of all nationalities and be a tireless advocate on their behalf

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

* Salary?- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience
* Duration of Contract?- This contract is a three-day week
part-time fixed term position for one year (with possibility of
extension to a 5-day week full time depending on workload)
* Probation?- Minimum 3-month probation period will apply.
* Working Hours?- 9am ? 5pm (**Apply on the website** hours per
week), Mon-Fri (occasional weekend work required)
* Annual Leave?- Annual leave **Apply on the website** days per
annum (pro rata for part-time)
* Travel & Subsistence?- Travel and subsistence will be paid at
public sector rates.
* Location of the position?? Unit 1 Killarney Court, Buckingham
Street, Dublin 1, with remote working arrangements available, where
appropriate.
* Garda Vetting?- Garda vetting is required.
