For?ige is the National Youth Development Organisation, which
promotes and fosters youth development through the operation of
various youth services in urban and rural areas throughout the
country. For?ige is currently recruiting for the following position:
YOUTH OFFICER
PROJECT SUMMARY
The New Choices Project, based in Drogheda, Co. Louth is a brand new
Alternative Learning Programme, providing targeted, evidenced informed
youth led support to young people who are not attending school. The

year olds who are out of school due to disruptive, antisocial or
violent behaviour or are not attending school by choice. It is a
structured programme with 3 key elements: 1 - Prosocial Engagement, 2
- Work Tasters & Training and 3 - Academic Learning & Re-engagement
into Mainstream Education. The Project will enable participants to
learn new skills, explore educational/employment opportunities, make
positive choices and return to mainstream education. The project is
funded by the Department of Justice under the Community Safety
Innovation Fund (CSIF).
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL
REQUIREMENTS;
* Education to Degree standard preferably in Youth Work / Youth
Justice / Drugs & Alcohol / Health Promotion Work (note: candidates
with exceptional, relevant work experience may also be considered in
lieu of degree qualifications) (E)
* Access to car and full driving licence (E)
* Paid or voluntary, experience working with young people (E)
* Experience in recruiting target group (E)
* Programme design experience (E)
