PURPOSE OF POST

The HUGG vision is that _anyone bereaved by suicide can find hope and
healing_. HUGG provides information and support principally through
the provision of local and online peer support groups - led by
volunteers with lived experience - for the suicide bereaved_._ By
engaging in research HUGG aims to inform public policy and improve
bereavement services. HUGG also collaborates with professionals and
other organisations working in the bereavement sector to advance best
practice and support those bereaved by suicide by raising public
awareness, communicating their concerns and advocating for change in
how state institutions engage with them

HUGG is committed to the development and delivery of peer support
groups for any adult who has been bereaved or affected by suicide,
right across Ireland. All of our HUGG groups are led by trained
volunteers with a lived experience of suicide bereavement. This goal
is in line with the National Office for Suicide Prevention?s (NOSP)
national strategy to reduce suicide in Ireland as identified in

We are seeking an individual, with a lived experience of suicide, to
work with HUGG to assist in the expansion and promotion of HUGG
support groups and the management of our volunteer facilitators.

* The post holder will support the HUGG Groups Manager in all aspects
of the day-to-day management of HUGG?s Volunteer Facilitators
provision across Ireland.
* The role will include supporting administration attached to
individual HUGG groups, reporting, file maintenance and the
recruitment, and training of HUGG volunteers; the implementation for
volunteer policies and contribute towards the development of a
creative and innovative strategy that will ensure the volunteer
services support the aims, objectives and values of HUGG.
* Help to broaden awareness of HUGG amongst the public, community
organisations and professionals through networking, collaboration and
imparting best practice, skills and knowledge.
* Collaborate, liaise and promote HUGG?s services with the HSE,
NOSP, Local Authorities, Therapists/Counsellors, GP?s and other NGOs
in promotion and extension of HUGG?s suicide bereavement supports
nationwide.
* Communicate regularly with existing Volunteers, supporting the
HUGG groups and attending HUGG group meetings on occasion.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

* A commitment to suicide bereavement support informed by a lived
experience of suicide.

DESIRABLE:

* Experience of active involvement in the voluntary sector.
* SafeTALK or ASIST training.
* Grief, bereavement or suicide prevention training

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

* Two appropriate references (past employer, work colleague,
voluntary organisation, educator).
* Willingness to train in specific programmes as relevant to the
post
* Full clean driving licence

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND/OR KNOWLEDGE

* Able to take direction to assist in recruiting, supervising and
supporting a dispersed team of Volunteers across a wide geographical
area
* Able to create productive working relationships to communicate
fully in the role with fellow HUGG staff and volunteers
* Able to communicate effectively and maintain professional
relationships with a range of individuals/organisations
* Ability to assist in developing, delivering and facilitating
presentations, training and consultation events.
* Ability to work under own initiative remotely
* Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* To work in accordance with all policy, procedures and guidelines of
HUGG.
* Assist in the recruitment, training and support of HUGG Volunteer
Facilitators.
* Support the Group Manager in the establishment of new HUGG groups
in line with HUGG?s strategy and focusing.
* Support ensuring all Volunteers work in line with HUGG?s
policies, procedures, including codes of conduct, confidentiality,
safeguarding, data protection and equal opportunities.
* IT literate, confident in the use of the Microsoft office suite of
programmes such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Experience on a CRM system such as Salesforce is desirable (and a
willingness to learn how to use new technologies).
* To attend training, meetings, events and conferences around
suicide prevention, suicide bereavement and grief education as
required.
* Assist in the ongoing development of training resources and
materials for Volunteers
* Assist in the promotion of HUGG?s support services through local
and national PR, social media campaigns and marketing activities.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties which may arise within the
scope of this post.
* Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.
* Act in accordance with the charity?s policies and procedures.
