COURT ACCOMPANIMENT / COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER

ABOUT AMAL:

The Amal Women's Association provides frontline services to Muslim
women, and women with a connection to the Muslim community nationwide.

Our aim is to provide culturally-appropriate services for women and
children from Muslim and non Muslim backgrounds in Ireland, with the
mission to advance the human rights, health, safety, participation,
and dignity of Muslim and non-Muslim women in Ireland.

Amal provides a range of services and are currently expanding their
service to include court accompaniment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of the role(Case worker) is to provide support to women
accessing/using Amal services. Caseworker?s role will include
documenting case history, preparing reports and serving as a liaison
between families, government organizations, schools, courts,clarify
legal terminology(incase of court proceedings), and inform the women
of follow-up proceedings.

CONTRACT: Part Time 1-Year Fixed Term Contract
SALARY: **Apply on the website** pro rata

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Filing and maintaining case history reports
* Interviewing clients to assess their situational needs
* Determining which services and assistance are necessary
* Serving as a liaison between the client and social, financial,
health and legal services
* Developing a support plan of action to improve the client?s
well-being
* Planning regular follow-ups to assess progress and additional
needs
* Reviewing and modifying plans as circumstances change for the
individual
* Accompany the women to court, and provide support before, during
and after the court proceedings
* Clarify legal terminology and decisions
* Provide referrals to other organizations and related services
* Record all personal data in line with Amal?s data policies
* Adhere to Amal?s GDPR guidelines

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:

* Preferably **Apply on the website** years of previous experience
working in an information and advice setting, community work setting
or related field
* An understanding and knowledge of support and advocacy services,
organizations and NGOs in Ireland
* Social context to understand the challenges and opportunities
clients face
* Written and verbal communication to interface with government
organizations, courts/probate officers and essentials services
* Critical thinking and decision making to plan the best course of
action for their clients
* Problem solving to improve the well-being of their clients through
advocacy
* Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure in
stressful situations
* Excellent and empathic listeners with good communication and
interpersonal skills to better understand the needs of their client so
they can create a plan of action
* Understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds
* Ability to speak another language (Arabic, Urdu,
Bengali..preferable but not necessary)
* Understanding of GDPR and ability to maintain confidentiality
