CHILD & YOUNG PERSON PSYCHOTHERAPIST - BLANCHARDSTOWN

LOCATION: Blanchardstown, Dublin **Apply on the website**

REPORTING TO: Lead Therapist

Reporting directly to the Lead Therapist the role of the Child & Young
Person Psychotherapist is to provide professional and compassionate
therapeutic support to children aged under **Apply on the website**,
young people aged between **Apply on the website** & **Apply on the
website** and their families who are experiencing suicidal ideation or
self-harm crisis, and those bereaved by suicide.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

WORKING DIRECTLY WITH CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE
FACILITATION OF:

* Pieta risk & suitability assessments
* Development and implementation of risk management plans as
appropriate
* Evidence informed, brief, strengths based & goal focused
interventions
* Effective Case Management support to clients and their families
*
Structured family and peer support groups

DUTIES:

* Engage with clients using a person centred approach, exhibiting
professional boundaries while ensuring the values and ethos of Pieta
are upheld
* Work in accordance with Pieta?s Policies, Procedures and
Guidelines
* Deliver all assessments, interventions and supports in line with
the Pieta Way Therapeutic Model
* Work collaboratively with clients and their family members to
promote the cofacilitation of support and treatment plans
* Liaise and consult with other professionals in supporting the
client as required
* Maintain accurate, confidential records of practice in line with
Pieta policy and GDPR legislation
* Carry out administrative procedures in accordance with
organisation policies
* Build relationship and work formally with service providers and
local community stakeholders to support children, young people and
their families affected by suicidal ideation, self-harm, and those
bereaved by suicide
* Identify potential gaps and barriers to supporting clients and
families and work collaboratively on an intra and interagency basis to
address these
* Attend external clinical supervision twice per month (paid by
Pieta) and attend group supervision internally in Pieta once per month
* Contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service as
required
* Maintain professional and personal boundaries
* Participate in Clinical Team meetings and attend other meetings as
deemed necessary
* Share information with the Lead Therapist, Regional Manager, Pieta
team and other services as appropriate and in accordance with best
practice
* Support the Lead Therapist in responding to strategic priorities
for the service, region and organisation
* To be involved in the preparation of reports, statistics and other
information that may be required by the Lead Therapist and/or Regional
Manager/Clinical Director
* Have a flexible approach to the work in response to organisational
change, development, operations and review of best practice
* Report to the Lead Therapist for individual support, management
supervision, performance appraisal working within the parameters of
the Pieta HR and H&S policies and procedures
* To manage incidents and emergencies as they occur and bring them
to satisfactory conclusion within the framework of Pieta policies and
to record details of such incidents as required
* Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed, and that
links are being made with the appropriate internal and external
services to support clients and develop services
* To assist in the recruitment, induction and retention of Staff,
Pre accredited Therapists and Volunteers
* To provide support to the Fundraising Team in relation to any
events being held in connection with the service
* To undertake ad-hoc duties as required by the Lead Therapist
and/or Regional Manager/Clinical Director

* Ensure compliance with organisation policies to ensure consistent
delivery of services and maintenance of quality standards including:

* Health and Safety
* Consent & Confidentiality
* Assessment, Support Planning and
* Professional Boundaries
* Child Protection
* Best Practice Guidance for Suicide Prevention Services

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* A recognized qualification at minimum Level 8* or higher
qualification on the NQAI framework in Counselling or a Level 9 in
Counselling Psychology. *(A recognised Level 7 in Counselling &
Psychotherapy obtained pre-**Apply on the website** will be accepted)
* Be a fully accredited Psychotherapist / Counselling Psychologist
with IACP, BACP, IAHIP, FTAI, IAPTP, APPI, APCP, NAPCP, PSI or ICP
* Experience in working with children and/or adolescents (experience
must be as a counsellor / psychotherapist / counselling psychologist)
* Formal Qualification in working with children / adolescents
* Experience of working with crisis intervention and suicide
bereavement
* Experience of group facilitation and delivery of psychoeducational
supports to clients and family members
* Knowledge of Brief Solution Focused Interventions, CBT etc.
* Ability to reflect on practice in order to facilitate personal
learning, professional development and service improvement
* Demonstrate great warmth and the ability to empathize
* Strong interpersonal & communication skills
* Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
* Strong time management skills and capacity to prioritize competing
demands
* Experience of managing a caseload of clients
* Ability to foster good working relationships with external
agencies and organisations
* Ability to fulfil obligations as a Mandated Person as per the
