POSITION: POLITICAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT TO EAMON RYAN TD,
MINISTER FOR ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE, COMMUNICATIONS AND TRANSPORT

RESPONSIBLE TO: Media Advisor and Minister for Environment, Climate,
Communications and Transport and his wider team
TERM: Full time, contract coterminous with this Government?s term
(including 3 month probation period) Immediate start. Standard working
hours although some out-of-hours work and travel will be required ?
but this will be recompensed in time in lieu.

LOCATION: Based in both Departments (DECC Adelaide Road / Transport
Leeson Lane) with primary desk in Transport.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

_The Communication Assistant role provides the opportunity to work
with a Senior Government Minister across two key departments in
government, Environment, Climate and Communications as well as
Transport. It offers a valuable opportunity to work across a broad
range of developments that are taking place already, and which will
continue at speed and scale over the coming years, to ensure that
Ireland reaches our target to reduce our emissions by **Apply on the

_It provides flexibility and freedom to be creative, working with a
small and innovative Ministerial team, as well as the Green Party HQ
team and communications teams and divisions across the two
departments. As part of the role, the assistant will have the
opportunity to travel with the Minister to various locations and
events._

_A primary responsibility will be online communications; video
messaging, social media updates and website development and
management. It will also involve press relations, particularly at a
local level, again, helping to ensure that the benefits that will come
with climate action are communicated to local communities. The role
will also involve working with members of the Minister?s team to
write and design newsletters, leaflets and social assets for his local
constituency._

DUTIES

* Working with the Minister?s Special Media Advisor and wider team
to ensure that key activities and messages are amplified at all
levels.
* Creating effective digital content for all social media sites and
website. This includes writing, filming, editing, captioning and
posting social content across multiple sites, as appropriate.
* Working with social media and comms teams across both Departments
ensuring that the Minister?s communications dovetails with
departmental activities.
* Assisting in drafting, editing and issuing national and local
press releases and attending to other media matters as required
* Tracking media/ social exposure, monitoring media and campaign
coverage and preparing presentations and reports on this for the team
* Working with the team in providing content for and designing
constituency newsletters, information flyers on key issues (eg.
Retrofitting, travel routes etc.) both print and e-newsletters and
support with event organisation when required.
* Ideas and suggestions

This is not an exhaustive list of duties. We are looking for somebody
with ideas and initiative ? somebody who is a self-starter and can
see what might need to be done. If the Communications Assistant sees
an area of work that she/he thinks should be done, or has an idea for
a project, public event, video, social media approach, the team will
encourage that and will do what?s possible to ensure that it
happens, if it?s deemed appropriate.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

* 2 years? work experience in a relevant communications role
* Proactive, creative and innovative.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* A demonstrative understanding of social media strategies and media
relations
* Above average knowledge of various social media platforms,
including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
* Experience in digital content creation, copy writing and updating
websites
* Design, filming and editing skills and proficiency in relevant
software such as Canva, Kapwing, Adobe, or applicant?s preferred
content creation tools (please specify in cover letter)
* The ability to multitask and to work in a busy, fast paced,
reactive environment
* Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well both within a
team and on own initiative
* An interest in environment, climate action, transport, public
policy and politics, some knowledge of the Dublin Bay South
constituency and a climate action supporter.
