JOB TITLE
Volunteer Engagement Officer Citywest Transit Hub
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Operations Manager
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Working alongside the Citywest Transit Hub Community Volunteers Team
and in conjunction with Volunteer Engagement Officers.
OVERALL PURPOSE
The project's overall aim is to work in the Citywest transit hub to
inform, promote and facilitate volunteering by displaced persons,
asylum seekers, international protection applicants and beneficiaries
of temporary protection, thereby allowing them to understand and
access the local volunteering infrastructure when they arrive at their
more permanent accommodation.
KEY AREAS OF WORK
* Developing and delivering workshops on site to Transit Hub clients
on volunteering including the role of local volunteer centres.
* Managing expectations of clients around volunteering and the
barriers to volunteering including language barriers, accessibility,
transport.
* Assisting clients to register on I-VOL in the first instance and
supporting them to change their profile when they move to their final
destination.
* Providing individual consultation to clients to prepare them for
volunteering at their final destination.
* Develop materials in multiple languages introducing clients to
volunteering.
* Offering some taster volunteering programs in the local
Citywest/Saggart area.
* Support and liaise with the Volunteer Engagement Team of SDVC to
assist in the placement of volunteers in suitable opportunities when a
person who has previously engaged with the programme secures permanent
accommodation in South Dublin
* Support residents in accommodation across South Dublin to identify
and apply for suitable volunteer roles

* Experience of managing projects, determining objectives, setting
priorities and successfully implementing solutions.
* High level IT skills with an ability and an interest in working
across multiple online platforms.
* Ability to communicate effectively and in an engaging manner,
verbally and in writing.
* Ability to report on progress and agreed objectives.
* A methodical and organised approach.
* Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
* Ability to communicate in another language(s) would be of benefit
in this role

HOURS OF WORK

and weekends required. Time off in lieu of overtime (TOIL) will be
given for hours worked in excess of normal weekly hours.
SALARY
South Dublin Volunteer Centre operates a banded salary scale. This
role will operate at Level 5 (Specialist/ Professional Staff), with a

(pro-rata). Movement within the scale is dependent on performance as
determined by annual review.
CONTRACT
