INDEPENDENT ASSESSING SOCIAL WORKER POST FOR WEST OF IRELAND

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Independent Assessing
Social Workers, who are available to complete fostering assessments in
the west of Ireland, to join our service. This position will be home
based, the post holder will report directly to the Principal Social
Worker for Assessment who is based at our head office in Park West
Business Park in Dublin **Apply on the website**.

As an independent assessing Social Worker you will be required to
respond to enquiries and case work requested of you by the Principal
Social Worker. This caseload will be allocated subject to geographic
location and availability and reviewed on an ongoing basis. The role
will offer you diverse experience in assessing and educating general
foster carers in this growing service with the ultimate aim of
approval of foster carers, to meet the needs of children requiring
care placements. The role requires you to complete these assessments
as per the National Standards for Foster Care timeframe of **Apply on
the website** weeks. Fortunate to this position is the greater
flexibility of days and times in which these assessments are
completed.

This post will involve travel to and from prospective foster carer
homes. It may involve rare attendance at Orchard fostering offices in
Dublin, where needs arise, however efforts will be made to facilitate
any meetings required in a location where reduced travel would be
required. This service offers skill development in the area of
training to prospective and current foster carers alike. This
independent assessment role will incorporate support to and training
with foster care applicants and their children.

KEY CRITERIA:

Must have a professional qualification in Social Work i.e. NQSW,
Masters in Social Work or equivalent qualification validated in the
Republic of Ireland through CORU.

* Must have at least 2years social work experience, previous
experience in the foster care field is desirable but not mandatory
* Must have a clean driver?s licence and use of a car
* Must have own mobile phone and laptop to use for work purposes
* Must have secure space in home to store confidential files and
information
* Must have professional indemnity (insurance for set up as
independent social worker)
* Must be self motivated and have ability to work flexibly
