Role Purpose

To provide a highly competent level of on-site technical support at
Datacentres and Equipment rooms and housing the mechanical,
electrical, communications and IT Infrastructure on which internal and
external customer services are delivered.

As a member of an effective and efficient Datacentre support team,
delivering optimum service for customers within overall cost budgets
and maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of
information and applications located at our clients Datacentres and
Equipment Rooms

Nature and Scope of the role

Datacentre Support SMEs are central to the deployment, support and
maintenance of these solutions and services at the Datacentres and
Equipment Rooms and ensuring their reliability and availability to end
users. The primary scope of the role is to implement the key
operational processes and customer mechanical, electrical,
communications and IT infrastructure at Datacentres and Equipment
Rooms to ensure service level targets are achieved for the customers
of Datacentre services.

The role will involve support & maintenance of equipment located in
any of the Datacentres (ISO **Apply on the website** and Non **Apply
on the website**) or Equipment Rooms managed by Group Technology

Accountabilities

Within the scope of responsibility of the Support SME:

? Relevant policies kept up to date and complied with

? Availability and performance levels are achieved

? Documentation is up to date and effective

? Service improvements identified and implemented

? Housekeeping procedures operate effectively and to schedule

? Management informed of key service data and exceptions

? No Capacity management issues

? Accurate asset management information

? Technical and operational status of supported systems is
accurately recorded

? Zero P1 incidents arising in the Datacentre Services area

? Reduced incidents for Datacentre Services year on year.

? Develop an expert understanding of the Retail Data Centres -
Information Security Management System (Datacentre - ISMS) process,
procedures and work instructions

? Ensure all personally assigned duties and tasks, and those of data
centre staff, are carried out in compliance with the requirements of
the Datacentre - ISMS

? Report any breaches of the Datacentre - ISMS or Opportunities for
Improvement to the Datacentre Management Team in accordance with
published Datacentre - ISMS reporting policy

? Support the Datacentre Management Team in the remediation of
reported breaches or execution of improvement activity

Role Specific Technical Skills

Skills, technical knowledge and experience with the following:

? Installation, operation & maintenance, troubleshooting and
recovery of mechanical, electrical, communications and IT equipment at
the Datacentres and Equipment Rooms according to standard
specifications, procedures and work instructions

? Server and communications device hardware and physical power and
connectivity requirements, rack administration, device installations,
power and connectivity cable management

? Server Operating System and Application software installs
according to standard build specifications, procedures and work
instructions

? Knowledge and experience of wired and wireless communications
technologies used within Datacentres and Equipment Rooms

? Remote control and diagnostic tools at Datacentres and Equipment
Rooms - such as KVM, console devices, remote power cycling devices,
environmental & energy sensors

? Compliance with Datacentre and Equipment Room Health & Safety
procedures including personal protection, mechanical & electrical
safety, manual handling, use of mechanical aids, working aloft,
working with hazardous materials.

? Compliance with Datacentre and Equipment Room Security procedures
- including Physical and Logical Access controls and goods
inwards/outwards controls, permit to work process

? Troubleshooting in the Datacentre and Equipment Room environment

? ITIL-based processes including incident and problem management,
asset & configuration Management

? Structured cabling and patching in accordance with a patching plan
or troubleshooting process

? Installation, moves, adds and changes of mechanical, electrical,
communications and IT equipment in racks in the Datacentre or
Equipment room according to skills, qualifications and work permit

? On-site support for 2nd and 3rd level support engineers during
build activities or troubleshooting a problem

? Media handling and tracking in accordance with customer and
application backup and recovery regimes

Terms of Appointment

On-call liability may be a requirement of this role

It may be required to move heavy loads (Servers/etc.) on a trolley or
such during commissioning and or removal of equipment from the racks
