ILMI is seeking a dynamic, motivated and driven individual to join our
staff team as Strategies for Change project worker (part time). This
role is to work directly with disabled people to access the supports
and services they need to live independent lives in the Greater Dublin
area and to support their involvement in the work of ILMI.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ILMI seeks to employ a project worker to oversee our Rethink Ireland
funded programme Strategies for Change. Strategies for Change which
will build on the capacity of disabled activists from across the
country to work collectively to build an inclusive Ireland. In the
year that Ireland makes its first report to the UN Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), more than ever, disabled
people?s voices need to be heard. Strategies for Change will create
an innovative online programme with legacy learning resources which
build and support the development of disabled activists across
Ireland.

The project will deliver **Apply on the website** online workshops on
a range of topics to build collective approaches to build equality.
Many of the inputs will be delivered by experienced disabled activists
on topics such as disability equality, intersectionality and the
social model of disability.

ILMI will also work with experts from the Irish Human Rights Equality
Commission (IHREC), the Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC), Values Lab
and the National Women?s Council of Ireland (NWCI) to cover a range
of topics including the role of Public Participation Networks, the
Public Sector Duty, Equality Legislation and the role of values in
bringing about change. These inputs will be recorded as high quality
video inputs for activists to use as learning resources either
?live? via Zoom or as an online legacy on the ILMI website.

THE STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE PROJECT WORKER WILL:

* Oversee the delivery of **Apply on the website** online workshops
to disabled activists on a range of topics to build collective
approaches using legislation and local / national structures to ensure
strategies for disability equality is led by disabled people.
* Link with presenters in advance of agreed dates to ensure
programme delivered.
* Ensure all relevant presentations are made available to
participants in Strategies for change programme.
* Develop and resource peer group of at least **Apply on the
website** disabled activists who participate in the online training
and continue to support their development beyond the lifetime of
?Strategies for change?.
* Ensure the recording of a series of **Apply on the website** high
quality video resources on equality legislation, UNCRPD, the Public
Sector Duty, disability equality uploaded onto ILMI website as a
legacy resource for disabled activists and community organisations who
want to use strategic approaches to build an inclusive Ireland.
* Engage with all relevant stakeholders, ILMI staff and members to
promote Strategies for change.
* Provide regular updates to staff, board and members through ILMI
eBulletin, ILMI website and social media.
* Work with CEO, staff, board and members to meet Strategic
objectives.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* An understanding and commitment to Independent Living;
* Commitment to the values of ILMI;
* An understanding of ILMI?s role as a DPO;
* An understanding of the Social model of disability;
* Commitment to the principles of community development:
* Experience of working in a human rights or community development
organisation experiencing similar issues at local or national level;
* Excellent communication skills; including proven ability to
facilitate groups and work with people on a one-to-one basis
* An ability to build relationships with a wide range of
stakeholders;
* Computer literacy, including familiarity with new media
technologies such as Zoom.
* Access to high quality broadband in order to facilitate and record
Zoom inputs.

The position is based in ILMI offices in Brunswick Street but the
programme and peer support will be delivered via Zoom so there is
flexibility on alternate working arrangements (assuming quality access
to internet).
