Ais?ir? provides a range of addiction treatment services to people
with addictions, their families and anyone affected by addiction. We
are now recruiting for a panel of relief addiction counsellors.

JOB TITLE: Relief Addiction Counsellor

LOCATION: All Centres with locations in Tipperary, Wexford, Kilkenny
and Waterford.

REPORTS TO: Centre Manager(s)

PURPOSE: To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a
residential setting. To provide professional counselling service to
all who attend the programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To participate in all aspects of the therapeutic programme ensuring
ethical and professional standards of care and good practice are
delivered in a safe environment in line with ACI/IACP standards.
* To conduct individual and group therapy sessions within the
guidelines of the programme.
* To carry a case load of clients and manage their care from the
beginning of treatment into their continuum of care.
* To link effectively with all external agencies in the service of
the client.
* To participate in your specific role so as to contribute
effectively to our multi-disciplinary team approach.
* To participate in the smooth running of the therapeutic programme
ensuring a client focused programme with up to date lectures that are
research based and in line with best practice.
* To participate in on-going training that the organisation
provides.
* To ensure care planning and case management are documented in a
concise manner and in line with accreditation CHKS standards.
* Be responsible for the running of the unit with your peer while on
duty.
* Exhibit a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when
interacting with clients, families and other personnel.
* Collect statistics as required for relevant reports and
documentation correct.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

_QUALIFICATIONS_

* Third level qualification in the addictions is preferable.
* Possession of a recognised counselling qualification with
accreditation to IACP or ACI or a similar body.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Good planning ? organisational and innovation skills.
* Knowledge of Brief Therapy, CBT, MI, CRA, CRAFT, Family Dynamics
and additional training in related areas of counselling is desirable.

_EXPERIENCE:_

* Relevant experience in the addiction field.
* Practical work experience in the **Apply on the website** step
programme.

_KNOWLEDGE:_

* Familiar with various models of addiction as well as best practice
in rehabilitation, aftercare and recovery.
* Knowledge of best practice in working in the field of addiction
and rehabilitation.
* Knowledge of agencies who work in the field of addiction.

_PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL:_

* Compassionate but pragmatic and effective in the delivery of
services that maximises client recovery.
* Capacity to co-ordinate a wide range of activities at once and
effectively work under pressure.
* Willingness and capacity to be reflective and creative in
developing new means and methods of maximising client recovery in
accordance with evidence and best practice.
* Ability to maintain the principles of confidentiality in all areas
of work.
