JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION: COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

This is an exciting time to join Drinkaware, the national charity
working to prevent and reduce the misuse of alcohol and tackle
underage drinking. Having achieved charity status in **Apply on the

public across owned and earned channels substantially. The charity has

contract to promote awareness and understanding of misuse and harm. We
have also completed several high profile and important research
projects and established a reputation for behaviour change in the area
of health promotion expertise.

We are now seeking to hire an experienced and ambitious Communications
professional with previous experience of working in the
healthcare/consumer sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation,
delivery and measurement of an effective multi-disciplinary
communications programme.
That is core to the organisation?s day-to-day work and overall
strategic efficacy and impact. The position will be a key senior
appointment and will have a vital role to play in the formation of
Drinkaware?s new Strategic Plan **Apply on the website**.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Act as brand and reputation champion for the charity
* Develop communications plans including deliverables that drive
expectations and impact goals.
* Monitor, measure and report on programme and campaign performance
on an ongoing basis
* Develop a deep understanding of the strategic needs of the charity
to create key messages and communicate them in a simple, engaging and
informative way.
* Leverage Drinkaware?s digital capability to mount creative
campaigns that use digital to empower the public to develop healthy
attitudes and behaviours regarding alcohol
* Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and promote
communications consistency.
* Provide communications support for Drinkaware events including
webinars and live broadcasts.
* Direct and manage external (PR, digital) agencies
* Overisght and adhernence to the Outreach & Engagement budget
* Build a deep knowledge of and develop coalitions across
Drinkaware?s stakeholder eco-system
* Demonstrate communications leadership and counsel within the
charity and support team members as appropriate to function cohesively
as part of the team

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
?

* **Apply on the website** years of communications, media, digital
experience
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to gather
complex concepts and information, translate it quickly into engaging
content and share it clearly to multiple audiences
* Excellent and demonstrable media expertise (knowledge,
relationships, storytelling, pitching)
* A self-starter, able to think on your feet and make tough
decisions with a desire to embrace responsibility and take ownership
* Excellent writing, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* Exceptional attention to detail is a must, coupled with personal
pride in every output you deliver
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Media (including social) monitoring and reporting competences
* Have an understanding and/or interest in the health sector and
policy in Ireland.
* Motivated to excel in a fast-paced environment and ability to work
under high pressure.
* Strong work ethic with a team player attitude
* Collaborative approach but able to work independently as needed
