Locum Consultant In Haematology/University Hospital

Position: ?Locum Consultant in Haematology (UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL)
HSE hospital in the South of Ireland requires a Consultant in
Haematology.

DETAILS OF SERVICE:
The hospital is one of the hospitals in the group. Patient care is
delivered in a variety
of settings. New approaches and models of care to follow the care
demands of
the health service are being advanced within the context of overall
healthcare
reform, to include Sl?intecare.
The Service is predominantly laboratory based currently with clinical
care provided from another important HSE hospital. The existing
Haematology service at the hospital comprises
onsite support of a visiting Consultant Haematologist with laboratory
duties.
This new post will greatly enhance the service and be the first of a
planned two
consultant haematologist posts at the hospital. The post will provide
stable laboratory
governance for transfusion & haematology as well as to provide
clinical
governance in increasingly important areas such as cancer care (blood
cancers
and support for care of solid malignancies), thrombosis and bleeding.
Post I of a planned two posts is designed with very close links to the
other university hospital
. A second post will enhance clinical governance as well as
facilitating
out of hours and leave cover. The proposed model is that of a
multi-disciplinary
interconnected services between the 2 hospitals.
The strategy within the group of hospitals is to improve the
laboratory Haematology
Service at the hospital and commence the provision of a Clinical
Haematology service.
While the substantive post 0.8 WTE additional Consultant Haematologist
will be based at the hospital, a further 0.2WTE of the post will be
spent at the opther hospital?on site or
with virtual attendance. The post holder will be considered part of
the team of both hospitals
and it is expected that access to meetings / MDT/teaching, diagnostic
facilities as
well as teaching and learning at the other hospital will be integral
to the role.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Should be a Specialist in haematology inside the European Union. Will
need to get registered with the Irish Medical Council on the
Specialist Registrar but we can help you with that if not yet

Have a very good command of written and spoken English (at least a C1
level of English).
