ABOUT L?ARCHE
L?Arche Ireland is a part of a global network of communities where
people with and without disabilities live and share life together,
working for a world where we all belong. There are 3 communities in
Ireland ? Dublin, Kilkenny and Cork, and Belfast in Northern
Ireland. L?Arche Cork is home to **Apply on the website** people
across five houses in the South Lee area and also has a Day Service in
the Togher area of Cork.
L?Arche is an ecumenical Christian community which welcomes people
of all faiths and none.
INTRODUCTION TO TENDER
L?Arche Cork is inviting expressions of interest from suitable
applicants to tender for the service of Day Service Developer. The Day
Service Developer will oversee the development of L?Arche Cork?s
Day Services and take responsibility for the planning, design and
implementation of the programmes identified in the Scoping Exercise
(see below, ?Context?).
CONTEXT
L?Arche Cork?s Strategic Plan **Apply on the website** outlines
two key areas of development for the Day service as follows
* _Develop new ways of responding to the needs of core members
through day service re-structuring._
* _Develop the day service to meet the needs of school leavers in
line with New Directions._
In line with these strategic objectives, in May **Apply on the
website** L?Arche Cork conducted a scoping exercise to give
direction to the future of the Day Service Development. The purpose of
this scoping exercise was to explore models of day service provision
from which L?Arche Cork could develop a day service which would
provide opportunities to current day service attendees and new
attendees, in particular new attendees who will leaving school and
will be looking for services in September **Apply on the website**.
The policy context for the scoping exercise is New Directions.
_RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES_
Some of the recommendations in the Scoping Exercise included, but is
not limited to, the: -
* Establishment of community caf? which would provide training and
work experience opportunities for day service attendees.
* Establishment of a retirement focussed project.
* Focus on training/work experience opportunities in
Art/Woodwork/Life Skills.
* Improved interagency networking and community integration.
PURPOSE
* The function of Day Service Developer is to oversee the development
of L?Arche Cork?s Day Services and take responsibility for the
planning, design and implementation of the programmes identified in
the Scoping Exercise, ensuring at all times that the L?Arche
mission, vision and values are central to the development.
* Advise, identify priorities, provide feedback, review documents,
develop protocols, collect and analyse information, connect with all
parties involved, approve activities and documents
* To work in partnership with the Community Leader, Day Service
Co-ordinator, and staff to implement the recommendations of the Day
Service Scoping Report, ensuring that all stages of implementation are
progressed in a timely manner, and within the mission, vision and
values of L?Arche
* Guide and support L?Arche Cork through the change process.
OVERSIGHT
* The development of the day service will be supported by oversight
from the Renew Group, which comprises of L?Arche Ireland Board, CEO,
Local Committee, and Community Leader.
* Meetings will be held monthly, and will provide oversight,
direction and support to the Project Developer and Day Service
Coordinator.
TIMESCALE
The successful tender must be in a position to commence no later than
8 February **Apply on the website**. It is envisaged that the work
would require a commitment of 2 days per week over a minimum of 9
months.
