SOCIAL CARE MANAGER (RESIDENTIAL UNIT MANAGER) DISABILITY SECTOR

MATERNITY LEAVE CONTRACT ? 9 MONTHS MINIMUM. IMMEDIATE START!

Are you an experienced Social Care Manager, seeking a challenging and
exciting opportunity? Aspire is seeking a Social Care Manager to
oversee day to day operations of our Residential Unit, reporting as
HIQA assigned Person In Charge to the CEO (Provider).

The successful candidate will have a solid background in managing a
residential centre (specific to disability), with the demonstrated
ability to manage a team of social care workers, leading by example
across operations, engagement with residents and stakeholders,
compliance and best practice. We are ideally looking for a candidate
who has at least 3 years social care work experience, with at least
one year experience in managing a residential centre. A sound
knowledge of HIQA requirements to lead and prepare for internal audits
and risk compliance is necessary.

DAY TO DAY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Managing Aspire Residential Unit in an efficient manner and
ensuring that the highest standards, in relation to the care,
education, training and rights of service users are maintained and
developed.
* Ensuring an environment is created and maintained within the
Residential Unit, which is conducive to the wellbeing of service users
and staff.
* Ensuring the home is prepared for Inspections at all times,
leading any inspections which take place and following up on required
actions.
* Sufficient awareness of policy, legislative and professional
requirements to ensure an appropriate standard of service is
delivered.
* Working closely with the team and external multi-disciplinary
teams to ensure that therapeutic care programmes for each resident are
agreed, implemented through daily social care practices and monitored
on an ongoing basis. Ensuring staff are aware of any particular or
individual communication supports required by each resident as
outlined in his or her personal plan.
* Ensuring that support plans, risk assessments and all other
standard documentation is in place and regularly reviewed for each
resident. Review and provide final sign off for all regular reports
for each resident.
* Ensuring as far as reasonably practicable, each resident has
access to and retains control of personal property and possessions
and, where necessary, support is provided to manage their financial
affairs, and that residents are free to receive visitors without
restriction.
* Developing Person-Centred Plans (PCP) in consultation with
residents, their family, key worker, staff team, the
multi-disciplinary team and services/agencies where appropriate.
Reviewing of PCP in an ongoing basis.
* Initiating and putting in place an investigation in relation to
any incident, allegation or suspicion of abuse and take appropriate
action where a resident is harmed or suffers abuse.
* Leading relevant meetings including PCP meetings, team meetings,
individual reviews, appraisals and exiting interviews
* Ensuring Residents receive all necessary health care required and
where medical treatment is recommended and agreed by the resident,
such treatment is facilitated.
* Ensuring the residential unit has appropriate and suitable
practices relating to the ordering, receipt, prescribing, storing,
disposal and administration of medicines. This includes ensuring
Cardex and MAR charts are present, up to date and signed off by GP.
* Assisting the Registered Provider (CEO) in their role, partaking
in the Six-Monthly Unannounced Inspection and the Annual Inspection.
Ensuring the Registered Provider is kept informed of any arising
issues within the Centre.
* Submitting HIQA notifications in line with the statutory
requirements. Reporting any incidents or near misses.
* Maintaining internal audit systems, ensuring that regular standard
checks are carried out and all other documentation are completed and
fed back to the Registered Provider.
* Ensuring that staff have up to date knowledge and skills,
appropriate to their role, to respond to behaviour that is challenging
and to support residents to manage their behaviour.
* Ensuring that staff have access to appropriate training in line
with statutory requirements, including refresher training, as part of
a continuous professional development programme and that staff are
appropriately supervised.
* Ensuring there is a planned and actual staff rota, showing staff
on duty during the day and night and that it is properly maintained,
and that he or she has obtained in respect of all staff the
information and documents specified in Schedule 2 of the Standards.
* Ensuring that there is sufficient stock regarding to household
supplies and PPE. Supporting staff in maintaining a high level of
infection control. Reviewing and updating of protocols and procedures
where necessary. Implementing any required changes.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS:

* Qualified (to degree level) social care worker with at least 3
years? experience in social care
* Minimum 1 year experience in management role of Residential Centre
(disability sector)
* Strong leadership skills, able to manage day to day operations of
the centre while successfully leading a team of social care workers in
line with best practice
* Excellent attention to detail with sound organisational,
administrative and communication skills
* Kind and empathetic nature. A team player with a great attitude -
a strong focus on employee engagement and maintaining a ?homely?
feel to the centre and safe and warm environment for our Residents
* Able to commit to at least 9 months maternity cover period,
working full time at Ballinteer Residential Unit
