JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal assistants are required to assist with all day to day tasks,
including the following; personal care, food preparation, physical
exercise, general house cleaning and any other activity of daily
living upon request.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Physical assistance with personal care, which is to be completed
with dignity and respect for privacy (including showering and
dressing)
* Medication administration, bladder washes and stoma care (all
relevant training will be provided for these tasks)
* Meal preparation
* Manual hoist transfers to and from wheelchair
* Board transfers to and from wheelchair
* Assistance with daily exercises
* Routine house cleaning and other various domestic tasks which
should be completed upon request
* Attending and assisting with community outings when needed e.g.
shopping
* As a father of one I will need support. Part of that will involve
minimal support in supporting me as a parent
REQUIRED CHARACTERISTICS
* Ability to follow instructions
* Fluency in English
* Must adhere to confidentiality and have respect for privacy at all
times
* Be willing to work evenings, antisocial hours and weekends
* Flexibility
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* FETAC level 5 in health care or equivalent training or experience
* Manual handling experience/qualification is essential
* Must be available to attend all mandatory training
* Good knowledge of food hygiene
* Full clean driving licence (Individual needs to be **Apply on the

DESIRABLE QUALITIES
* Previous experience working with someone with a spinal cord injury
* An understanding of disability and the independent living
philosophy
