International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) is a non-profit

Organization and develops best practice guidance, publishes several
medical journals, and supports training programmes for health
professionals working in the field of epileptology. As part of our
mission to improve care and treatment, advocate for equal
opportunities and facilitate research, ILAE organizes three to four
large conferences (congresses) per year to support knowledge exchange
between health professionals and promote the voices of people with
epilepsy.

ILAE?s Congress Office in Dublin is seeking a Digital & Design
Officer to assist with the creation of effective virtual and blended
congresses. Under the direction of the Congress Director, this
full-time position will support the effective translation of
traditional and novel congress activities to virtual platforms and
digital media. The desired individual will have at 3 years of
translatable experience of virtual and digital event design and
management; proficiency with software (including Microsoft Office &
Excel); and excellent attention to detail, communication, time
management and organisational skills.

We are seeking someone who works well independently but is also team
oriented. Flexibility, attention to detail, and critical thinking
skills are highly valued. This position will be a mix of office-based*
(Dublin) and remote working.

*_Fully remote working until lifting of pandemic restrictions permits
a return to office_

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

_VIRTUAL AND BLENDED CONGRESS DEVELOPMENT: PROGRAMME-PLATFORM
INTERFACE_

* Work with the Congress Programme Managers to ?translate?
proposed congress programmes and different session types into virtual
platform(s) and digital formats
* Work with third-party providers from proposal to development and
delivery. Serve as an interface between Congress Programme Managers
and third-party providers on technical issues
* Optimize the user experience for programme content and design
across devices, including usability testing
* Take a lead on understanding global participant virtual access
issues and ensuring optimal access and engagement for all delegates
(including those with poor internet connection, disabilities,
non-English speakers, etc.)
* Consider analytics and user insights to improve the user
experience over time

_BRANDING AND DESIGN_

* Deliver user-focused designs that meet brand guidelines, and
content and web standards, ensuring that key elements are built in
from the outset
* Provide advice, guidance, and training regarding the effective use
of digital design, including disseminating best practice on customer
experience and accessibility
* Maintain knowledge and understanding of the external operating
environment and respond to advancements in technology and working
practices

_EVENT MANAGEMENT_

* Support and contribute to effective project management across the
Congress Office
* Work flexibly across all major task areas and all design and
communication disciplines (online and offline)
* Create monthly reports

_ADDITIONAL DUTIES_

* Ensure the virtual congress platforms meets GDPR obligations
* Training and onboarding new staff to the virtual platform/s and
other systems
* Other duties may be required under the direction of the Congress
Director and/or Executive Director

EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE

* Essential: knowledge of the latest developments in the field of
digital design, technology and communication
* Proficient in design software (Adobe Creative Suite; Photoshop and
Illustrator)
* Understanding of user experience design
* Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
* Awareness of technical standards and technologies used to create
interactive experiences (code, systems and APIs)

EXPERIENCE

* 3 years of experience helping to plan and deliver conferences or
similar events (particularly medical-oriented ones)
* Designing and leveraging digital platforms for conferences or
similar events, with a focus on user experience
* Developing and maintaining external partnerships

PERSONAL SKILLS AND GENERAL COMPETENCIES

* Excellent communications skills, including verbal and written
English
* User-centered perspective
* Creative and critical thinking skills
* Ability to improve efficiency while following brand, style and
tone guidelines
