POSITION TITLE: RELIEF SOCIAL CARE WORKER

PROGRAMME: Homeless Services

THE EMPLOYER: Crosscare, Clonliffe College, Dublin 3. Crosscare is the
social care agency of the Dublin Diocese and is a registered charity.
Crosscare delivers services with a servant leadership ethos.
Crosscare?s Homeless Services operate a range of residential
services targeting adults & families experiencing homelessness. The
services aim to move people out of homelessness and into homes of
their own.

WORK SCHEDULE: Services are **Apply on the website** hour, **Apply on
the website** day residential services. This post covers both night
shifts and dayshifts (including weekends). Duties cover leave
requirements in Crosscare's Homeless Services. Full-time availability
required.

CONTRACTS: Relief Contract ? 2 year Fixed Term Contract

LOCATION: Crosscare?s Homeless Services are located in the city
centre and in Dun Laoghaire.

REPORTS TO: Team Leader/ Project Leader

THE ROLE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To engage with and build professional trusting relationships with
individual service users and families, treating them with dignity and
respect, and working within the values of Crosscare
* To work effectively as part of a team and being open to reasonable
requests from Project Leader/Deputy/Team Leader in order to ensure
effective working relationships
* To work within the policies of Crosscare and the standard
operating procedures of the project

_General_

* To assist and contribute to the quality agenda in order to ensure
that a consistent delivery of service and quality standards are
adhered to in the project
* To perform all the administrative duties relating to the role in
order to ensure that the project runs smoothly
* To observe all Health and Safety policies of the project and to be
involved in continual quality improvement in order to ensure that the
security of the building is maintained at all times day and night

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

* Minimum BA Degree in Applied Social Care, Social Studies Addiction,
Mental Health, Nursing, Psychology or equivalent full Level 7 Degree
awarded by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) QQI
* Experience of working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups,
ideally within the homeless sector or alternatively within community
development/youth work sector

Applicants with a minimum of 5 YEARS EMPLOYMENT IN A DIRECTLY
TRANSFERABLE POST will be considered for the post is they have
completed the DCU Homeless Intervention & Prevention or Care & Case
Mgmt. Certificate course and/or a NFQ Level 6 in Addiction Studies and
have demonstrable additional training as detailed below.

DESIRABLE

* ASIST, CPR, AED, TCI trained
* Be familiar with Pass System

PERSONAL QUALITIES

* A commitment to social justice and to treating people with dignity
and respect
* An understanding of the principles of teamwork and the ability to
work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
* A positive, can do attitude is essential in this role
* Excellent communication skills, IT and report writing
* Flexibility, good time management and a professional manner
