To provide safe, efficient and effective professional management of airport and other civil engineering project as well as ensuring profitability of contract operations.
Responsibilities
• Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations, and ensuring that policy and procedures are implemented throughout the operations under your responsibility. This will include the ownership and promotion of site health and safety.
• Close involvement with the International division management team, building knowledge of the tender process, and assisting in this process.
• Responsible for personnel resources, including site employees and sub-contractors. Effectively manage the site team in the effective use of such resources.
• Ensure that the key roles are staffed with people who can effectively undertake their roles in the daily function of the business, that their roles are clearly defined and understood and that all personnel are motivated and managed to achieve the business’s objectives.
• Through an effective leadership style, ensure that all functions within the project are managed and operating to agreed objectives and targets, leading to completion of work to schedule and profitability.
• Manage the materials used throughout the project, ensuring that due care is given to current and anticipated stocks, and that these are ordered in a timely and efficient manner.
• Responsibility for the service and maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring that planed and routine maintenance is carried out to minimise breakdowns and to maximise use of each piece of equipment.
• Ensure that good relations with suppliers are established and maintained so that the most favourable deals are facilitated for the benefit of both the business and the supplier.
• Liaise with the client on site and represent the Company at progress meetings, in order to provide a customer/client focused approach to the project, and in the resolving of operational and design issues. Client negotiation from inception to final account.
• Portray a professional image to all external bodies, in the management of the contract.
• Responsible, in conjunction with the site QS and the Site Commercial Manager, for all contractual and other on site administration, keeping accurate records of all stages of the contract.
• Work with the Quality and Environmental Department to ensure that quality procedures are being implemented and administered.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by this function.
Key Relationships:
• Maintain close relationships with site team through an approachable yet determined management style.
• Close working relationships with the management team, including;
o Senior Contracts Manager and Director for International and Major Airport Projects, providing weekly progress reports and immediate reports of problem areas as they arise
o Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor on issues of contractual compliance (and to some degree estimating).
• Reporting of financial information important throughout the contract.
• Other members of the team as necessary.
• Inter-departmental relationships within the company, including Health and Safety, Quality and Human Resources.
• Develop relationships with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers etc in order to facilitate current and future contracts.
• Client liaison, providing updates on progress, and gaining feedback on completed works.
Requirements
• Third level qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Membership of one or more associated professional institutes would be advantageous.
• Significant experience within Civil Engineering, including at management level.
• Experience working on airports is essential .
• Strong team building and leadership skills
