OUTDOOR EDUCATION

For?ige is an independent, non-profit national voluntary youth
organisation engaged in out-of-school youth development and education.
The organisation aims to enable young people to involve themselves
consciously and actively in their own development and the development
of society. For?ige employs over **Apply on the website** staff and
involves thousands of volunteers in the creation and delivery of high
quality services to young people through the operation of over **Apply

General Youth Services and Special Projects. These community-based and
community-supported initiatives are run throughout the country, in
rural and urban environments, and generally in partnership with
various voluntary and statutory agencies.

The organisation is a registered charity and is supported by a
combination of statutory, philanthropic and corporate funding.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR: KAYAKING

Since **Apply on the website**, For?ige have had responsibility for
management, access and use of the Espoir Kayak Club located at
Seapoint, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

For?ige manage and use the site as a base for sea kayaking activities
during the summer months. With support from South Dublin CYPSC &
Healthy Ireland, It is intended to again use the site for For?ige sea
Kayaking activities from June- August **Apply on the website**.

The facility will be used to enable young people from For?ige
projects, clubs and services to engage in structured and accredited
Kayaking courses as well as once off taster sessions. Such programmes
encourage young people to explore and develop a range of skills
through access to a new challenging sporting activity with
opportunities for development and progression.

The Outdoor Education Instructor will work alongside the For?ige
Youth Officer/ Instructor who will oversee and coordinate the
programme of activities on site.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE _(E) __= Essential, (D) =
Desirable_

* Recognised kayaking NGB Instructor qualification min Level 2 (E)
* A QQI or Third level qualification in Outdoor Education or a
related area or significant relevant work experience. (D)
* A current First Aid qualification.(E)
* VHF licence (D)
* Paid or voluntary, experience working with young people (D)
* An understanding of Youth and Community Work methodologies (D)
