SUMMARY:

The Head of Care will create, and lead implementation of, an overall
plan for the boarding campus which will include amalgamation of the
boarding campus, implementing an appropriate model and standard of
care. At all times the Head of Care will encourage recognition of each
boarder as an individual; ensuring their rights and needs are given
priority in line with Social Role Valorisation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Below are the key areas of responsibilities;

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

* Overall responsibility for the Strategy, Vision, and Restructuring
arrangements of the boarding campuses as one service
* Leading the service through amalgamation and management of change
* Work towards achieving Centre of Excellence status
* To ensure the provision of a high quality, effective and safe
boarding service
* Be accountable for the overall delivery of boarding services for
Deaf children

STAFF & RESIDENTS MANAGEMENT

* Oversee the delivery of the service in collaboration with all
members of the multi-disciplinary teams
* Be responsible for the development and supervision of staff
* Facilitate the arrangements necessary and participate, where
appropriate, in education and training of other staff as the need
arises
* Ensure that there are clear lines of accountability at individual,
team and service level to ensure all staff are aware of their
responsibilities and who they are reporting to
* Determine admissions criteria for boarding campus
* Identify specific projects to enhance the lives of boarders and
ensure same are implemented
* Oversee the implementation of comprehensive personal plans, and
that they are developed in a manner that ensures the maximum
participation of boarders and their parents/guardians in line with
good practice

COMPLIANCE & REPORTING

* Preparation for external audit following HIQA approach
* Responsibility for the implementation of audits and
recommendations
* Ensure the safety of the boarding service by monitoring compliance
with legislation and acting on national policy, standards and
recommendations
* Be accountable for and manage all budgets
* Oversee and co-ordinate the quality and safety system including
all aspects of risk management

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

* Be the Designated Liaison Person for the boarding campuses
* Liaise and communicate the developments to all members of staff,
boarders (residents) and their families.
* Liaise with external organisations in order to promote and
maintain good working relationships and high standards of care and
support for Boarders
* Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time
by the CEO

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

* Social Care minimum level 8 or equivalent
* Experience at senior management level including administrative as
well as social care management experience
* Experience of service inspections and audits e.g. HSE/HIQA, and of
working with Tusla/other governing bodies
* Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of CIDP
* Create and promote open communications, healthy working
relationships, and stimulate initiative amongst the team
* Proven track record in leading diverse teams and lead, by example,
a professional, punctual and dedicated team
* Have experience of defining and setting strategic goals and
monitoring their implementation

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

* Fluency in Irish Sign Language (ISL), another signed language or a
willingness to participate in ISL classes and achieve ISL level 4

(CIDP will support ISL level 3 and ISL level 4 classes)
* Post holder will have, or will develop, an understanding of the
Deaf community and Deaf culture
* Post holder will ideally have a full clean Irish driving licence
* Post will require the user to be competent in use of word, excel,
power point and outlook
