SUMMARY OF POSITION

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join the
interdisciplinary team at the National Suicide Research Foundation.
The successful candidate will work with the team and with key
stakeholders from the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention to
develop a programme of research related to service evaluation, as part
of Connecting for Life (CfL), Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce
Suicide, *.

The successful candidate will gain unique experience in working
alongside researchers, policy makers, service providers, community
workers and those with lived experience. The ideal candidate should
have a background in mental health research and experience of mixed
methods research and/ or implementation science methodologies. The
successful candidate will report to Dr Eve Griffin, Chief Executive
Officer.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Preparing study documents, including ethical approval, study
protocols and recruitment material.
* Conducting literature reviews.
* Co-ordinating the development of data collection tools, including
surveys and semi-structured interview schedules.
* Liaising with service providers in data collection.
* Data collection of both quantitative and qualitative data.
* Data cleaning and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative
data.
* Contributing to reports and briefings for services and
stakeholders.
* Preparing conference abstracts and peer-review publications.
* Contributing to seminars and dissemination activities.
* Co-ordinating lived experience activities related to the programme
of research.
* Undertaking administrative work to support the programme of
research.
* Undertaking additional duties as may reasonably be required within
the general scope and level of the post.

CRITERIA

* PhD (or equivalent experience) in a health-related topic.
* Appropriate research experience.
* Experience of quantitative/qualitative/mixed-methods research.
* Experience of working with data analysis and data management
software (e.g. SPSS, Stata, NVivo).
* A capability of working within a project team to achieve results.
* Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
* A publication record, including peer-reviewed publications.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills.
* Capacity to work on one’s own initiative and to multi-task.
* A commitment to gaining practical experience working on a research
project.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* Experience of working in the field of self-harm/ suicide research
or a mental health-related topic.
* Experience of implementation science methodologies.

POST DURATION AND SALARY:

The appointment will initially be for nine months, full-time, with the
prospect of prolongation of the term of employment, subject to
funding. Salary will be in accordance with the IUA Salary Scale
Postdoctoral Researcher (€ *,**Apply on the

commensurate with experience.
